New York Times tackles gun control in first front page editorial in 95 years



In a rare move, the The New York Times ran a front page editorial Saturday tackling the subject of gun control following the horrific mass shooting this week that left 14 people dead and 21 injured in San Bernardino, California

The paper has not published a front page editorial since 1920 when it criticized Warren G. Harding’s nomination as the Republican presidential candidate that year.

“It has been many decades since The Times ran an editorial on Page One. We do so today to deliver a strong and visible statement of frustration and anguish about our country’s inability to come to terms with the scourge of guns,” NYT publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr. said in a statement sent to Mashable Read more…
